Black Box Art Studio had a market stall at a recent christmas fair. Great fun and we even won a prize for best display. The beautiful flowers were once again supplied by Natasha and were all handmade from paper….stunning!

Lighting up the night sky…

20151205_213957

The sky changed from blackest blue to a shimmering, glimmering display of light and colour and sound. The peace was broken. The darkness now broken with bursts of colour and shattering of light and smoke falling to the ground. It was by far the best fireworks I have ever seen. I even found a flower amount the stars.

Tis the season….

December 1…the start of my favourite time of year…Christmas. And summer!

December 1 heralds in the start of the Christmas season…with the tree being decorated, the Advent Calendar being opened,  the Christmas stories coming out, the sense of anticipation starting to build…

December 1 is also, for us the real start of summer. It is the end of school and exams and the time of longer warmer days, of beaches, bbq’s and outdoor fun.

DECEMBER 1…I am so happy you have arrived.

I went to the Len Lye Centre yesterday. It is a stunning and frequently photographed building on the exterior. Inside the gallery was a collection of some of his works and some other collections….including several items from one of my favourite artists…Colin Mc Cahon. But what really struck me as the most beautiful and stunning art in the building…was the building! It’s gracious, smooth, very tall curved concrete walls and the slips of light peeking through between some panels was the most beautiful art of all.

Be still my beating heart….

It was only a few weeks ago that I was in Paris and not long after that I posted this blog about Paris. It seems appropriate to repost it today.

Paris – we mourn for your huge loss. We are so very, very sad.

Very exciting news!!!!

I have just ordered the first copies of my first Black Box Art Studio book. It is a little black 6 inch x 6 inch square book called “A Little Christmas Advent Alphabet Book”. This is completely designed and produced by myself and using my own writing and my own art and photographic images to count down to Christmas. It is a 100% original Black Box Art Studio product.

It is printed on gorgeous thick exceptional quality photographic paper built to last for generations and is a professional quality lay-flat photographic book – so it can lie flat on a table or stand upright with the image clearly spread across the two pages…absolutely beautiful.

Please have a look at the preview…its a wonderful gift and Christmas heirloom item – can be used every year as an inspirational way to count down the days until Christmas.

Two views of one beach on one day.

November 2015 013November 2015 011

The thing about beaches is that they always surprise you. They are always changing. The tides move and leave water marks, the sands change in the light, wind and birds leave marks on the sand, the time of day, the cloud and light shifting, the weather and the seasons all affect the view. It is always different and always stunning at dusk.
