After the chaos of travel, tourists, crowds, trains, endless queues and cities full of people and non-stop action, it was refreshing to wander around one of our regional gardens on Sunday and admire the spring blossoms while children ran and scampered with complete freedom.

I couldn’t decide which one I liked best, so here are two images from my walk in the park today.. There were loads of late winter bright blooms, but I loved these especially.
This was my first real chance to really test out the 50mm fixed lens and I love it. There hasn’t been much photography or blogging recently – the price I am paying for being a shop owner at present! But, I will be back!
Although fairly well recognised around NZ and Australia in most parks and lakes, the black swan is not common in other places around the world and is regarded with some awe and mystery. Here it is almost regarded as a pest. But, the timeless tale of the ugly duckling turning into a beautiful swan still holds fascination for me. The black swan is undoubtedly a stunning and graceful creature, gliding effortlessly across the water with its elegant long neck craning and glossy black feathers ruffled as it searches for what…some food, a mate, her own “ugly duckling” babies? .
