Taking in the moment….

20160224_195732.jpg

It was one of those moments when I had to stop and reflect on how lucky I am…to be able to leave my home and after a five minute drive, enjoy this stunning view during my evening run. It really is quite sensational.

Fading pink in the heat of summer….

Feb Fair at Tupare 2016 008

The hydrangeas are out in full glory. Perhaps this seemingly endless summer is even too hot for them this year, as they look drier and pinker than usual.

Of course, I love the muted shades, the messy variegated colours seen as they slowly die off from what was a glorious bloom, and this hedge was a perfect example of the colours.

Summer days are long but the year is short…

Napier Jan 2016 017

Summer doesn’t get any better than a nice summer hot of 31 degrees (Celsius), a cloudless sky, a golden sandy beach, the bluest sea, white lazy waves and a chalky white island in the distance…

I have been back in Hawkes Bay on the eastern side of New Zealand. This image is from the breathtakingly gorgeous Waimarama Beach.

Lazy summer days are great for relaxing and recharging…but one can only relax for so long and I have found myself itching to get back to my city base and get going with loads of ideas for another book, an exhibition and setting up my own gallery this year…!

Catching spindrift…

Anzac weekend 2015 024

It was really blowing! The wind howled, the gusts were enough to blow you over, deck chairs went flying down the street…and at sea, the white caps stretching as far out to the horizon as one could see. The spindrift…. airborne white spray fans creating spectacular wind patterns across the waves. Windy, wild weather at sea.
