To love now lost…an ode of sorts to a final resting place

Gracious final resting place
Endless glimmering sea
The mountain keeping watch
a
guardian of secrets and promises made long ago
this place a worthy place to mourn
to make peace
to reflect
or pay respects
the sea and mountain the only witness
to love now lost.

I like graveyards. Especially the very old ones, overgrown, neglected, strangely grand yet broken. The testimony of lives now almost lost to us is a testimony to how we value history it seems. They were here once. Their stories are our stories.
